Work with Endpoints

Note Access to this section is based on the type of your subscription. If you do not have access permissions, contact a CAQH administrator.

Note Only an account administrator can work with endpoints. If you do not have access permissions, contact your account administrator.

Endpoints describe technical details of a location that can be used to retrieve/enter data. To ensure that a connection is established securely and only the appropriate data is transmitted, an endpoint owner should provide a description of all the FHIR resources, interactions, and so on supported by this endpoint. It means you have to register your FHIR endpoints to which vendor applications will be sending calls. After you complete an endpoint profile and perform testing, submit it for approval by the administrator.

On the page My Endpoints, as an administrator, you can:

  • Register your endpoints.
  • View and edit the endpoints you have registered.
  • Delete your endpoints (if they are not published to the Directory yet).
  • Validate your endpoints against a set of scenarios.
  • Submit your endpoints for approval.

Note Your applications and/or endpoints can be published only after you publish your organization profile.

  • Download and view an Endpoint Report containing quality metrics for endpoints.
  • View the date when a certain endpoint has been last checked to see if it is valid. If a certain endpoint is not responding, it will be marked with an icon saying that the endpoint is not valid.

The endpoint in the CAQH Endpoint Directory passes through the following stages:

  1. The endpoint is created and is assigned the status In Progress.
  2. After you submit the endpoint for review and approval to CAQH/Edifecs, the endpoint is assigned the status Pending Approval. You cannot edit endpoints in this status. You can add test scenarios for endpoints once the review is complete.
  3. When the endpoint is successfully validated and approved by CAQH/Edifecs, the endpoint is assigned the status Approved. Otherwise the endpoint is assigned the status Rejected. If the endpoint is approved, and you decide to edit it, submit the endpoint for review and approval again.
  4. After approval, the endpoint gets automatically published to the Directory. The endpoint is assigned the status Published. Once published, the endpoint cannot be removed. You can add test scenarios for the endpoint in the status Published. To do this, click Recall Publish to unpublish the endpoint from the Directory.
  5. Note Once the endpoint is published to the Directory, you are not allowed to edit the endpoint anymore. To edit your endpoint, you should unpublish the endpoint from the Directory. In this case, the status of the endpoint changes from Published to Approved.

Note You cannot publish your applications and/or endpoints if the organization profile is in the statuses In Progress, Pending Approval, Accepted, Rejected.
