Register an Application
Note Only an account administrator can register applications. If you do not have access permissions, contact your account administrator.
Note Your applications and/or endpoints can be published only after you publish your organization profile.
To register an application, create a profile for your application with all the supporting documentation.
To register an application:
- On the My Applications page, click Register Application.
- In Application Information, in General, provide the following:
- An image with your application logo.
- The name for your application with the current version. You must edit this field for the next releases.
- The Organization Name field is filled out automatically with the name you provided upon creating your Smart Trading account.
- The scopes required for your application, for example, user/*.read, profile.
- The use case, such as: Coverage Requirements Discovery, Data Exchange for Quality Measures, Documentation Templates and Coverage Rules, Formulary, Patient Access, Payer-to-Payer Data Exchange, Prior Authorization, Provider Directory.
- The OAuth client type for your application. Select Confidential if the application is capable of keeping credentials (client ID, client secret) secure. Otherwise, select Public. Note that you will not be able to change the authorization client type after you save the application profile.
- The client grant type (how the application can obtain an access token) is filled out automatically depending on the selected client type. For the Confidential type, the application will use an authorization code from the redirect URL to request an access token. For the Public type, implicit flow is used where the authorization code is not required.
- One or more redirect URLs pointing to where the application is redirected to after the token is successfully issued.
- The application URL that points to an application resource.
- The Terms and Conditions URL to your organization's terms of service resource.
- The Privacy Policy URL to your organization's privacy policy resource.
- The platform(s) that your application can operate on (Android, iOS, Web).
- A brief summary (up to 200 characters) and a more detailed description (up to 1000 characters) of your application.
- In Application Information, in Contacts, provide the contact information of a person who will assist with cooperation inquires, as well as of a person who is familiar with technical implementation issues.
- In Application Information, in Application Preview, provide images (for example, screenshots) demonstrating the application's capabilities.
- In Submitter Information:
- Attest whether you are willing to follow the principles specified in the CARIN Code of Conduct in your terms and conditions and privacy practices, and then follow the described requirements to pass the CAQH/Edifecs application certification.
- Confirm if your organization has received the EHNAC Trusted Dynamic Registration and Authentication Accreditation Program (TDRAAP) accreditation.
- Enter your contact information in case of questions regarding the application profile and questionnaire.
- In Questionnaire, complete the following sections with information:
- Application Information
- Privacy Policy
- Data Security
- User Consent
- Employees
- Vendor and Contractors
- Certifications
- Miscellaneous
Where you should specify whether your application is intended to be publicly available, the purpose for your application (for example, a consulting tool for health-related questions), and the number of users who presumably will use this application (for example, 1000-5000), and answer the questions regarding the data privacy and security that your application is capable of handling, on behalf of who (a health plan or payer) your application acts, if there are any fees or charges associated with use of your application?
- Once all the mandatory information is entered, click Save or Save & Close.
Tip You can use the table of contents on the left to switch between sections and fill them in any order.
When your application profile is complete, you can send it for review. After successful validation and approval from the CAQH administrator, your application gets automatically published to the CAQH Endpoint Directory and becomes available for the community.
Note You cannot publish your applications and/or endpoints if the organization profile is in the statuses In Progress, Pending Approval, Accepted, Rejected.
